Our Story

The Birth of OSRA

Founded in 1995 by visionary leaders in Oromia, OSRA is dedicated to empowering communities through self-reliance and capacity-building initiatives.

Programs for Empowerment and Growth

Water Supply, Sanitation &
Hygiene

Improving rural livelihoods through better water and sanitation access, stronger health and education, and reduced burdens on women and children.

Food Security & Livelihood
Programs

Improving food security and rural resilience by tackling low yields, land fragmentation, and environmental challenges faced by smallholder farmers in Oromia.

Women Empowerment

OSRA promotes gender equality and combats harmful traditional practices by raising awareness, empowering women and girls, and engaging communities to protect rights and ensure inclusive development.

Promotion of Cereal Banks &
FMOs

Promoting cereal bank associations in 1998 to enhance household food security by increasing the availability and accessibility of food grains.

Environmental Protection

OSRA promotes sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation by supporting eco-friendly farming, restoring degraded land, and protecting rural livelihoods through awareness, tree planting, and soil conservation efforts.

Promote Access to Finance for Rural Poor

OSRA established WASASA Microfinance to improve rural livelihoods by providing access to credit and savings services, enabling thousands in Oromia to engage in productive economic activities.

Evaluation & Monitoring
