Breaking Barriers, Changing Lives
In many of the rural communities where OSRA works, women and girls face deeply rooted challenges—poverty, discrimination, and harmful traditions such as female genital mutilation, child marriage, and abduction. These practices limit their opportunities, harm their health, and silence their voices.
At OSRA, we stand with them. Through community conversations, we bring elders, religious leaders, women’s groups, schools, and local officials together to challenge harmful norms and promote equality. We fight for women’s rights to own land, access education and health services, and make decisions that shape their futures.
OSRA is also a strong advocate for women’s roles in peace and security. We support women’s meaningful participation in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and decision-making processes at all levels. By promoting Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) principles, we help create safer communities where women’s voices are heard and their rights protected during times of conflict and beyond.
Change is possible. We have seen girls return to school after escaping early marriage, women start their own businesses, and entire communities commit to ending harmful practices. Every story is proof that when women are empowered, families prosper, and communities grow stronger.
