Addis Ababa, Ethiopia —September 17/2025OSRA joins the people of Ethiopia and friends around the world in celebrating a truly historic moment — the official inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).After more than 14 years of dedication, contribution, and perseverance from millions of Ethiopians at home and abroad, the GERD now stands as a living testament to what unity, hope, and shared vision can achieve. This is more than a dam; it is a national dream fulfilled and a beacon of possibility for future generations.“This achievement belongs to every Ethiopian. It shows the world what happens when citizens come together( መደመር በተግባር), each contributing what they can, to make something extraordinary,” said Alemayehu Mechassa (Ph.D), General Manager.As a long-standing partner in the WASH sector, OSRA celebrates this milestone but also sees the ongoing need to bring clean water and sanitation to marginalized rural communities and schools. Millions still lack these basic services — a human right essential to health, education, and dignity.“This moment inspires us to keep going. As the dam is meant for economic value of nation in general, if philanthropists, development partners, and donors join hands with us, we can reach many more communities and schools with safe water and sanitation.
